Innovating Low Carbon Technologies and Supporting SME'sSupporting the Commercialisation of Future Low Carbon Technologies and Innovations
We have created an environment where transport, heat and power focused technologies/businesses can receive support and collaboration opportunities in a location that is a key focus of Birmingham’s de-carbonisation efforts.
We offer 4 levels of support dependent on the maturity of your business and technology readiness
The Birmingham Energy Innovation Centre provides R&D, modelling, benchmarking and validation and business support services.
The University of Birmingham’s £7 million Birmingham Energy Innovation Centre (BEIC) has been funded by the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP).
It will be the home of R&D, benchmarking and validation, business support, manufacturing systems integration and modelling expertise across the (public/private/academic) energy, waste and transportation systems sectors all in the one facility.
Working with existing energy and transportation system stakeholders, the BEIC will stimulate collaborative research and development projects to overcome local energy and low carbon transport challenges, demonstrating new and emerging technologies.
By supporting the development and deployment of these new technologies at scale, the BEIC will help decarbonise electricity and heat and improve the environmental performance of the city as it seeks to achieve net zero CO2 emissions by 2030.
TEP has two programmes of incubation support:
The Climate Innovation Platform (CIP) – kick start support for businesses/technologies in early stages of technology readiness.
