Creating Birmingham's Green Energy and Innovation Quarter

Tyseley Energy Park is on a mission is to transform clean energy innovation in Birmingham and the West Midlands. We are working with University of Birmingham and Birmingham City Council deliver a clear vision for the Tyseley Environmental Enterprise District that will transform East Birmingham into a Green Energy and Innovation Quarter.

The vision illustrates the opportunities for growth beyond the existing ambitions for the area, driving inclusive growth and leading a green energy revolution, presenting a single vision for the area which can be used to guide its future development. It leverages on key assets and initiatives already underway within the area such as the existing green and blue infrastructure, long-established transport routes, 230 local businesses, and the low and zero carbon businesses and energy systems driven by Tyseley Energy Park and the University of Birmingham’s Energy Institute.

The vision includes:

  • Creating an exemplary sustainable working and living ecosystem which is recognised for its approach to net zero and sustainability.
  • Linking to the city’s East Birmingham Inclusive Growth Strategy to promote inclusive growth in TEED that will benefit both local communities and the wider Birmingham area.
  • Collaborating with residents and businesses in the community to ensure the area is developed to the benefit of everyone.
  • Building on current momentum to attract more businesses to the area to join the green energy revolution.

This is a vision for a greener, fairer and more successful Birmingham – a city that will lead the way to net zero and a more sustainable future. Through collaboration and innovation, we can be at the forefront of a green energy revolution that will shape the lives and life chances of people across East Birmingham
