Last week, Tyseley Energy Park (TEP) proudly welcomed the launch of the Coalition for Impact programme, hosted by Loconomy at the Birmingham Energy Innovation Centre. This event marked the beginning of a collaborative journey involving nine community organisations dedicated to driving sustainable growth in East Birmingham. Through community economic mapping and locally tailored projects, the Coalition aims to build pathways toward economic resilience and growth.
A Vision for Community-Driven Economic Development
The Coalition for Impact, supported by Birmingham City Council’s East Birmingham Inclusive Growth Team, seeks to empower communities by providing a framework for sustainable, locally-driven economic projects. The programme’s objectives align with the Council’s commitment to inclusive growth and Tyseley Energy Park’s mission to support community resilience, green skills development, and inclusive economic progress in the region.
HMFT: A Link to the Community

One of the organisations actively representing TEP in this initiative is the Hay Mills Foundation Trust (HMFT), a community-oriented trust born from Webster and Horsfall’s legacy. As TEP’s key community organiser, HMFT plays a vital role in fostering connections within East Birmingham, supporting local initiatives, and acting as a bridge between TEP and the community. Through HMFT, TEP can engage with residents and address community needs effectively, ensuring that projects developed under the Coalition for Impact truly reflect local voices and aspirations.
Partnership and Participation
The nine community organisations joining the Coalition come with unique insights and a shared commitment to making a positive impact. Their projects will be rooted in economic mapping—an approach that helps identify local strengths, challenges, and opportunities. With guidance from TEP, Loconomy, and the Inclusive Growth Team, each organisation will develop and implement projects that foster local skills, create employment opportunities, and improve quality of life.

TEP’s partnerships with these organisations not only bring resources and expertise but also foster a collaborative approach where community needs and voices shape each project. This initiative builds upon ongoing local efforts, positioning Tyseley Energy Park as a collaborative space for sustainable innovation and economic empowerment.
The Launch Event and the Road Ahead
At the event, Loconomy facilitated discussions on how communities can harness their resources to create impactful, long-term changes. Representatives from the Birmingham City Council East Birmingham Inclusive Growth Team offered insights into how the Coalition for Impact will contribute to the city’s broader goals of economic resilience and social inclusion.
Through its work with TEP, HMFT, and local community partners, the Coalition for Impact will address issues such as employment, green skills development, and sustainable community planning. These projects are set to bring transformative benefits to East Birmingham by fostering a network of support for community groups and local residents, ultimately contributing to the area’s long-term vitality.
The launch of the Coalition for Impact marks an exciting step forward in Tyseley Energy Park’s commitment to community-driven change, and we look forward to seeing how these partnerships will shape a resilient, sustainable future for East Birmingham.
